Teaching Assistant Professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences
The Department of Computing and Mathematical Sciences (CMS) at the California Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Teaching Assistant Professor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences. This is a non-tenure-track teaching position, with full-time teaching responsibilities (typically, no more than two courses per term). The start date for the position is September 1, 2020 and the initial term of appointment can be up to three years.
The candidate will teach introductory computer science courses including CS 1, and engage in undergraduate academic advising. In addition, the ability to teach intermediate-level undergraduate systems courses in areas such as Operating Systems, Databases, and Distributed Systems is desired. The candidate may also assist in other aspects of the undergraduate program, including curriculum development and supervising research projects. The candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching Computer Science to undergraduates. An advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field is desired but not required.
The CMS department at Caltech provides a unique environment for innovative and interdisciplinary research and teaching to be conducted in a collegial atmosphere. Teaching faculty in CMS are full members of the department on instructional matters, and may also participate in ongoing research projects in the department.
