Postdoctoral Positions in Computing + Mathematical Sciences (CMS)
Close Date:
Open until filled.
Caltech's Computing + Mathematical Sciences (CMS) Department is a unique multidisciplinary environment with research activity spanning Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Communication & Networks, and Control & Systems.
CMS runs an active, interdisciplinary postdoctoral program that typically hosts more than 20 postdoctoral scholars. These positions are sponsored by individual faculty, research groups, and cross-cutting research centers. As an integral part of their postdoctoral training, postdoctoral scholars may also opt to teach a course with the permission of the Department.
This year, CMS is managing applications for the following postdoctoral fellowship programs:
- Computing, Data, and Society Fellows (CDSF). Due by December 15, 2026.
- Center for Mathematics of Information (CMI). Due by December 15, 2026.
- Computational Mathematics and Applications (CMX). Due by November 30, 2026.
- Decision, Optimization, and Learning at Caltech (DOLCIT). Due by January 1, 2027.
- The Linde Postdoctoral Fellowship in Economics and Computation. Due by December 10, 2026.
For additional details about these positions and related postdoctoral searches, see CMS Positions Available. Many of these programs will recruit multiple postdoctoral scholars.
Requirements: Positions are contingent on completion of the PhD. A cover letter, CV, research statement, and three confidential letters of recommendation are required. The research statement should also contain a section that addresses past or proposed contributions to teaching, mentoring, outreach, and inclusion. For full consideration, the application must be complete by the date listed with each fellowship.
Questions about the application process may be directed to [email protected].
