Postdoctoral Fellowship in Comparative Planetary Evolution
The Caltech Center for Comparative Planetary Evolution (3CPE) at the California Institute of Technology solicits applications for a postdoctoral prize fellowship associated with the center. This fellowship will be awarded to an outstanding applicant pursuing research in any area related to planetary science, either within the solar system or beyond, using observational, theoretical, or computational techniques. The 3CPE provides a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment for researchers at Caltech with common interests spanning both astronomy and planetary science. Fellows will also have full access to Caltech's extensive resources, including the Keck and Palomar Observatories and computational facilities.
The fellowship duration is 3 years and will commence in the fall of 2023 with an annual stipend of $74,000, a yearly research fund of $15,000 per year in direct costs, and up to $1,500 for relocation. Fellows are eligible to participate in Caltech’s benefit programs, including health and dental programs.
Applicants for the position must have a PhD in planetary science, astronomy, physics, astrophysics, geology, or an equivalent field by the date of their appointment. Applicants must also be within four years of receiving their PhD (PhD awarded after January 1, 2019). Applicants should submit a CV, list of publications, a statement describing their current and proposed research (4 page single spaced, 12 pt. font, not including figures and references), and three letters of recommendation by January 1, 2023. Offers will be made by Feb. 1, 2023. Questions regarding the fellowship should be directed to Professor Katherine de Kleer (firstname.lastname@example.org).

Caltech has implemented a mandatory vaccination policy effective October 15, 2021, requiring COVID-19 vaccinations for all employees (with Institute-approved exemptions for religious or medical contraindications only). At present, an individual is deemed “fully vaccinated” when that person has received, at least 14 days prior, either the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series (e.g., Pfizer or Moderna) or a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine (e.g., Johnson & Johnson). Upon eligibility, employees are required to receive the COVID-19 booster as part of the vaccine mandate. As a condition of employment, employees must submit official COVID-19 vaccine documentation.
